From Ashes to Grace

A blog on grief, faith, and Huntington's Disease

Hello friend! Thank you for finding your way to my blog. I created this blog just over one year after losing my dad in November 2024 to his battle with mental health and Huntington’s Disease. This loss sprung me into action to become a national advocacy leader for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) representing the state of Michigan, and a board member for the Michigan Chapter of the HDSA. My hope and prayer is that as I share my grief journey with others and continue to spread awareness for HD, that it could be an encouragement to you as well in whatever you are walking through. If not, it will at least serve as an outlet for me as I continue to grieve and heal.

Losing my dad suddenly is a loss that has changed my whole world, and will forever continue to shape who I am. I’m continuously learning how to hold both joy and sorrow together, and have always loved to express myself through writing, storytelling, and poetic words. This life can be so incredibly beautiful, as well as so incredibly hard and tragic, and I am grateful for the way the Lord has held me so close to Him through it all.

Over time I’ll be sharing more of my thoughts and experiences with grief, mental health, Huntington’s Disease, faith, and whatever else the Lord places on my heart and mind. So, if you are carrying wounds too, I pray that you know you’re not alone, and that there is still hope here. I pray you find yourself blessed as you walk alongside my journey in this little corner of the internet.
